This deck utilizes the “lock strategy” in order to break words up. This color-coded system includes…
- Green lock words (decodable words)
- Yellow lock words (future decodable words)
- Red lock words (phonetically irregular words)
The double-sided cards allow you to determine how much visual support you’re providing students as they practice reading these words. Use the black and white side to test their knowledge or flip over the card to visually cue students using the color-coded strategy.
